KORTE DESIGN OY

In the beginning. The history of Korte Design is linked to Southwest Finland, to the village of Ylhäinen, where Anni and Ville Korte moved from Karelia with their children as war refugees. At the Heikkilä farm, in addition to livestock farming, the work consisted of cultivation and forest management. Later, the farm also operated a sawmill, which burned down in the 1980s. In addition to the farm work, carpentry skills were passed down from generation to generation.

 After nearly a century, livestock farming came to an end in 2022. The farm's carpentry workshop was developed and expanded, and today it is used to handcraft the finnish Korte Design collection.

In addition to domestic production, responsible operations covering the entire product development, raw materials, and manufacturing are of primary importance to Korte Design. Only durable, natural materials are used in the products. The birch furniture plywood is produced in compliance with regulations that support sustainable, ecological development.

Korte Design products represent a clear Scandinavian style. The minimalistic collection is designed with both aesthetics and practicality in mind, without compromising on either.

All products are made using only 100% Finnish wood, and domestic origin is the foundation of both the company’s raw materials and production. The main raw material is Finnish birch, most of which comes from Järvelä in the Päijät-Häme region. Part of the wood used in the products also comes from a nearby forest owned by the company.

The starting point for all products is high quality. This has been carefully taken into account already at the design stage when selecting manufacturing processes and materials. The wood used is carefully chosen, and it can confidently be stated to be the best quality on the market. All products are tested and enjoy design protection also outside the borders of Finland.
